Spirituality

What is Spirituality?

  • our search for meaning, purpose and understanding within ourselves, our relationships and the greater universe
  • it represents our connection to the unknown, something larger than ourselves,
  • it relates to changing and improving the quality of our lives
  • our values, moral code, ethics, integrity
  • an attitude, a faith, a choice
  • creativity, wisdom, authenticity

Spirituality And Religion - Are They The Same?

There are similarities between spirituality and religion but they are not exactly the same.

Religion generally includes having, as well as outwardly expressing specific beliefs. This can include being involved in worship activities as part of an external faith organization or affiliation.

Spirituality generally involves a more personal, internal process of searching for meaning and connection in our lives. It is an experience that occurs within ourselves and which develops and changes over time.

How Does It All Fit Together?

"Healthy" living involves a balance between body (the five senses), mind (thoughts and feelings) and spirit (intuition, conscience, connection). Developing a balance within each of these areas helps to create a greater ability to cope with life experiences whether they be joyful or difficult.
